“On your Left.”

I’ve been considering what a word or phrase would be for this year. I spent New Years morning at River Legacy Park walking 5 miles with my son. While enjoying our stroll, several times we heard “on your left” from those passing us. As I considered upcoming challenges (positive, not just negative) and obstacles (small ones, not just large ones) the phrase echoed in my thoughts.

“On your left.”

This is not an attitude for just getting things out of the way. This will be a statement for the purpose of overcoming and overtaking. I’m not aiming for just check list completions but accomplishing what God is telling me. I hope to hear and obey. “On your left,” to fear as I pass it by,  and to circumstances as we overcome.

“On your left.”

Of course, I chuckle at the memory of a Marvel movie, when Captain America says the phrase while passing Sam Wilson on a run. Much like what happens to me at the park. Then, later the phrase’s meaning grows  from a funny passing quip to a meaningful sentiment of I am with you. “On your left.” Sam even gets to say this very phrase back to Steve Rogers in Avengers End Game at the most crucial point in the movie.

“On your left.”

This year, I have challenges to overcome. In 2025, I have obstacles to pass. Every year, I am not alone in doing these things. Neither are you! What do you hope to accomplish this year? What are your circumstances that you need victory in? What is God speaking to you about? “On your left.”

You Matter!
